Our duty is simple: leave out country stronger, freer, and more prosperous for those who come after us.
At the 2024 General Election Kiran Fothergill stood as the Conservative Party candidate for his hometown seat of Middlesbrough & Thornaby East. Whilst nationally Labour delivered a landslide victory, Kiran’s result in Middlesbrough stood out.
In a year when the Conservative vote share fell by around 20 points on average across the country, Kiran’s vote share fell by only 6.4 points. Less than the fall in Labour’s vote share in the constituency.
Why? Kiran fought the strongest and most well-resourced campaign the Conservative Party has fought in that seat in decades, and he promised to do politics differently.
His campaign was about demonstrating that a business-minded and pragmatic candidate with a focus on local issues could deliver for a town that for too long has lacked effective leadership.
Kiran remains committed to public service, and is looking at future opportunities to serve and represent Yorkshire and Teesside.

Kiran's values are Conservative values. Hardwork, having the courage to take tough decisions, aspiration, a belief that our country is great and that its best days still lie ahead. These are the convictions that define his politics.
Kiran is supporting Conservative campaigns across the North of England to help ensure that at the next General Election, we get a Government on the side of working people and on the side of business.
